Tips from a local: Buenos Aires, Argentina

by Emelie (Owner of MANO MANO)

To kick off the sunny season, we are determined to provide you with the best tips for your holiday destination. This time we asked Emelie, owner of the sustainable brand MANO MANO to give us the best tips for Buenos Aires, Argentina. From the perfect hotels to the best spots for dinner and lunch, she's penned it down for us. We don’t believe in gatekeeping:

JARDIN ESCONDIDO by COPPOLA

Owned by the legendary film director Francis Ford Coppola, the Jardin Escondido served as his personal residence while he worked on his film "Tetro." This boutique hotel, nestled in the trendy Palermo Soho district, boasts lush gardens, a solar-heated pool, and a tranquil atmosphere.

Lunch

Chuí

As a change from the plentiful and excellent meat on the menus in Argentina, there are also more and more good vegetarian restaurants. One of the best is Chuí in Villa Crespo, an industrial indoor garden under the railway line. Best for lunch. Order the Queso Llanero!

Oli Cafe

Film student and chef Olivia started her ‘non pretentious’ restaurant in ‘21 and it now is one of BA’s best. Argentina's creative scene comes here for lunch and merienda, (a sort of typical Argentinian breakfast around 5:00 PM) The menu is half salty / half sweet so they make the best pastries. Oh, and please have the cheese toastie! It's the best in the world according to Emelie.

What to do

Visit Museum Malba

(Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires) is renowned for its impressive collection of Latin American art from the 20th and 21st centuries. It serves as a cultural hub in Buenos Aires, offering a dynamic array of exhibitions, educational programs, and a cinema that showcases art films.

Shopping

Aynié

Clara probably inherited her great taste for design from her great grand father, who arrived in BA in the beginning of the 20th century after working for Hermes. That generation brought a series of trades that were executed with an excellence that acquires more value than ever in the current state of capitalism. Three generations of Aynié men carried on the saddlery from 1920 to the present day.

Some years agoo, Clara decided to take charge of the family initiative from her own cadence. Inspired by Phoebe Philo and the English publication The Gentlewoman, she began with a line of accessories of amazing craftsmenship.

Revolver

A cool men’s brand / café. But of course it is great for women too. They make amazing t-shirts in collaboration with nice places in BA.

Restaurants & Bars

DADA BISTRO

A very cool BA place in the center of the city. Here it is people watching, while chatting and having a Fernet cola (typical Argentinian drink).

EL PREFERIDO DE PALERMO

Best terrace in the city! Great food and drinks. Their milanes (Argentinian schnitzel) is famous.

PIEDRO PASILLO AL FUNDO

Beautiful natural modern design with a warm feel. Great food and amazing glassware & plates.

GRIS GRIS BAR

A super chill bar with great drinks , bites and good music where the creative scene of BA gathers before a late clubbing (boliche) night.
